Description
The REALQUALITY RS-WT-1 kit is an IVD for detection and quantification of the expression of the Wilms Tumor 1 gene (WT-1), located in chromosome region 11p13. The test is based on amplification of cDNA corresponding to a fragment spanning the junction of exons 1 and 2. It must be used in combination with the REALQUALITY RQ-WT-1 STANDARD.

Further Information
The WT-1 gene is found in the chromosome region 11p13 and codes for a transcription factor with four zinc-finger motifs at the C-terminus. It had been initially described as a factor in the pathogenesis of Wilms Tumor. Later the WT 1 gene has been found to be highly expressed in numerous types of hematopoietic tumors. The expression of WT-1 found in the peripheral blood or bone marrow of healthy persons is generally low. In contrast, these expression levels are significantly elevated in patients of all age groups suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) as well as in persons with Chronic Leukemia.
